In
terms of adventure and education, you can’t
get much better than this!

I have never learned about a culture as in depth as I did on this trip. It's a great trip that challenges you, but in turn betters your sense of living as a global citizen.
— Emily Pisano, Bainbridge Island, WA |
I will never forget swimming underneath the waterfall, meeting the chief of a village, staying with a family in Orosi, playing games with the orphans, and allowing myself to open up to all kinds of people. My Spanish was not too great when I started, but now I am at the top of my class in school. Broadreach helped me grow as a person; it made me a better person and enriched my life. Oh, and we definitely had a lot of fun!

The depth of the interaction we had with locals and the bonds we formed at every place was overwhelming. In addition, learning about sustainable development was certainly an eye opener.

Strangers,
people we’ve never met before, welcome
us into their homes with no expectations other
than that we come open minded and experience
their culture.
Whitney Connell, Portsmouth, RI |
Of all the ways to end our spectacular trip, dancing on the beach with a raging fire and booming music by the sea was one of the best. We had spoken earlier about what we had learned from this trip — to always take opportunities, to conquer your fears, to always be yourself — but most of all to make every experience count and shape you for the future.

I’m going home with a
deeper, more sincere, intimate connection to my
environment. Not just to nature, but to third world
situations, to cities, to haciendas, to homes where
other people let me eat their food and understand
and share their lives. I am that much more able
to welcome new ideas, new people, new foods, new
anything — because I came on this trip.

It
is difficult to convey adequately the superlative
qualities of this program. Each
facet — adventure backpacking in the Andes,
Spanish language instruction at the hacienda, cultural
immersion in a beautiful colonial city, community
service — could have stood alone as justification
for the trip. The leaders and organizers showed
a gift and expertise in organization, attention
to detail, vision, and the ability to realize their
vision.

It
was so cool to be able to put my Spanish to use.
It’s so unbelievably
satisfying when I communicate with the Costa Ricans
here, because the years of dedication to my studies
is paying off in a real-life experience. I learned
so much and honestly could not have been moved
more by this experience. Thanks!

This
program is a celebration of culture; it’s
a chance to absorb something else into yourself
and to in turn give back some
of your self to others.

Fantastic all the way around!
The adventure was professionally run and was the
perfect combination of fun, work, accomplishment,
and service. We lived for the terrific journal
updates! I will definitely recommend this to friends!

We
have accomplished so much. We have managed to
touch other lives and add to
our own. I connected with people not through common
pasts or experiences, but by new days and experiencing
things outside of our element. If only every person
could do something like this, be rewarded…

Ema Bravman, Wilton, NH |
I can say that this has been
a life enriching experience, and I will never forget
the time I shared with the 11 other individuals,
and what they taught me about life and myself.

Alec Griswold, Baltimore, MD |
The
staff were wonderful. The program was awesome.
We were never bored, yet we
always had time to ourselves. I loved how we saw
many different climates, landscapes and cultures
in three weeks. I couldn’t have had a better
time in Ecuador and I loved every moment of it.

Mackenzie Martin, Austin, TX |
Leaving
Pimpollo today, I felt wonderful. I felt like
I made so many people happy,
myself included. I was so sweaty, very dirty and
dead tired, but I’ve never felt happier… I
was thinking how much we accomplished in one day
and how much more that is than what I accomplish
on a typical day in the summer.

I
have one word for this trip: indescribable. I
can’t describe the magic
of this trip and what it has done for me. This
trip gave me a huge confidence boost.
